After going through the presentations for marking period 3, I was very impressed by everyone's work and it was interesting to see how each individual improved within the last marking period. One student that stood out to me was Tina, a 3D modeling student. She is still working on the same project that she was working on from the beginning of the school year and has come a long way since then. Sitting next to her in class, I've seen the obstacles that she's gone through when facing problems with Blender, specifically when creating hair in Blender. In the beginning, she had no idea where to start when it came to modeling hair. However, after some thorough research, she eventually found a route to the solution. Seeing that she has finally been satisfied with the hair on her model, it has inspired me to have the same kind of dedication and passion when creating my future projects. Whenever I feel stuck on a project, I will try and find a solution to it by doing more research.
Another student that I have learned from is Sean. When looking through his blog post, it seems like he put a lot of work and effort into his storyboarding and script. He is super organized with his planning and he usually stays on track with what he plans. I also like the camera movements that he used in his video along with the color grading. Small details like these can really enhance a video by a lot and it gives the audience a better visual of the story. I aspire to be like Sean and to have his type of work ethic.
Lastly, another student that I learned from is Aaliyah. I have never seen a student do screenwriting before in my life, and it was interesting to see the process that she went through to write her screenplay. She did a lot of research into how to write scenes for a film and even wrote a story for a base material. Originally, I never knew that scriptwriters wrote their scripts based on a story, but after seeing Aaliyah's presentation, I was able to learn something new. The fact that she went out of her way to try out something new makes me inspired to do the same thing.
After going through the Themes in Art pdf, the theme that I'm going to explore and focus on this year is going to be the concept of Art and Fantasy. I chose this theme because I believe that there are many different ways that you can display fantasy through videos because of how broad and diverse of a genre that it is. A couple of examples being an individual vs society, man vs nature, good vs evil, etc. Another reason why I’m choosing the topic of fantasy is because it is one of my favorite genres of films to watch, from Studio Ghibli classics to folktales and traditional motifs. Fantasy is a super limitless topic and you can create basically anything out of it with your imagination. I’ve had an interest in digital art ever since the start of middle school, and I’ve had a lot of experience from graphic designing to video editing. This was also around the same time when I discovered fandoms on Instagram that created fan edits out of anime and kpop. Watching these videos inspired ...
Since I finished my Five Nights at Freddy's inspired video, I have decided to move on to a different project. However, due to the amount of time that we have left in the school year, I want to work on something small and simple. Whenever brainstorming for ideas, I thought of doing a "customize your character" where I would draw a character and make it seem like someone is changing their appearance and outfits. This is usually what people do when they start a new game that requires them to customize their personal character. An example of it would look something like this. However, I would obviously put my own twist and style on it. The art style that I want to use will also be inspired by the mobile game called "Animal Restaurant." The appearance of the art style looks very simple and clean, which is exactly what I want to go for when drawing my character. At the beginning, I will also include a title screen just like my other previous projects to make it seem ...
Investigation: Pixel art is a form of digital art where images are created on a pixel level. The aesthetic for these kinds of art come from 8-bit and 16-bit video games. An example of a pixel art would be this picture: Instead of having round edges, the image looks like it is created by using small squares. To incorporate pixel art into my video, I want to create pixelated objects on photoshop to use in my video. To do the is, I have found a few youtube videos that will guide me through the process. Work Log: Monday: I had trouble exporting my image as a png from photoshop because when I resized the image, it decreased the resolution of my pixel art. Tuesday: I found a fix to my problem from Tuesday and successfully exported my image. I then went on youtube to find some video game sound effects and came across this video. It has a lot of different 8-bit gaming sounds that I can use in my video. Wednesday: I worked on my video in after effects Thursday: I worked on my video in afte...
