MP2 Presentation Reflections

After going through the presentations of my classmates, I was very impressed by the works that everyone was able to create by using their creativity and skills in art. One student that stood out to me was Noah. Although our fields in art are different, I can relate to some of his processes of filming "Monkey Business 2." While filming, Noah ran into some problems with the dark red lighting and had to adjust the settings on the camera. However, it was not enough to solve the problem fully and he wishes that he thought about it beforehand so that he could come up with a better solution. As someone who works on 2D animations, I definitely also run into a similar problem where the coloring isn't good enough to my liking. I will learn from Noah's mistake and have a plan B if anything ever does not work out in the end.

Another student that I learned from is Nyair, a 3D modeling student. When going through her blog post, it seems like she has done a lot of planning (sketches from her notebook) and research prior to creating her 3D models, which was a smart move on her. Even though I already had a lot of knowledge about after effects, I had little to no experience on photoshop. I thought that my skills from after effects would transfer over to photoshop when I started creating my pixel art character. However, I was wrong and I ended up scrapping my first artwork created in photoshop because I was not satisfied with how it turned out. After seeing Nyair's process of her artwork, it has taught me to do more planning prior to starting a project so that I have a visual representation of how I want my outcome to look like.

Lastly, a student who also inspired me was Sean. His film "Divorce" seemed very original because all of the characters that he used were not images taken from google. Instead of searching for audios online, Sean also created his own music to play in his film. I was super fascinated by his work since a majority of my images were taken from google because I was too lazy to create anything from scratch. After seeing Sean's film, I learned that the best kind of artwork comes from originality and dedication, so I would like to limit myself from using google images when I start on my new project.
