Investigation:

The game "Minecraft" has been out for a decade now, and it's been loved by many people, continuously having updates even til this day. In this game, there are also achievements that players can achieve by completing a specific objective such as killing the ender dragon or obtaining wood. After doing research about Feng Mengbo a few weeks ago for a blog post, it inspired me to relate my project to a video game. Since I have been playing Minecraft ever since beta, I thought that I would incorporate it into my cooking video because I have a lot of knowledge on how the game works.

To create this video, I will edit an overlay on top of the video to make it seem like a quest/achievement that a player needs to accomplish. An example of it would be like this, taken from BORE.D on youtube.


However, I am going to use a picture of a book and quill from Minecraft to list out the quest objectives.


One an objective has been complete, there will be an achievement notification on the screen that displays your accomplishment. Something similar to this:

The food that I will make out of this is going to be a cookie. Since there are cookies in Minecraft, I think that I will have a lot of creative space to play around with.

Work Log:

Monday: I set up a one drive on the class laptop because my project file got corrupted

Tuesday: I tried to recover my after effects file by searching up solutions online, but none of the solutions fixed my corrupted file. I also set up my one drive on my personal laptop.

Wednesday: I installed after effects on the class laptop and saved pngs of pictures to my desktop.

Thursday: I started designing the quest log

  After going through the Themes in Art pdf, the theme that I'm going to explore and focus on this year is going to be the concept of Art and Fantasy. I chose this theme because I believe that there are many different ways that you can display fantasy through videos because of how broad and diverse of a genre that it is. A couple of examples being an individual vs society, man vs nature, good vs evil, etc. Another reason why I’m choosing the topic of fantasy is because it is one of my favorite genres of films to watch, from Studio Ghibli classics to folktales and traditional motifs. Since I finished my Five Nights at Freddy's inspired video, I have decided to move on to a different project. However, due to the amount of time that we have left in the school year, I want to work on something small and simple. Whenever brainstorming for ideas, I thought of doing a "customize your character" where I would draw a character and make it seem like someone is changing their appearance and outfits. This is usually what people do when they start a new game that requires them to customize their personal character. An example of it would look something like this. However, I would obviously put my own twist and style on it. The art  style that I want to use will also be inspired by the mobile game called "Animal Restaurant." Investigation: Pixel art is a form of digital art where images are created on a pixel level. The aesthetic for these kinds of art come from 8-bit and 16-bit video games. An example of a pixel art would be this picture: Instead of having round edges, the image looks like it is created by using small squares. To incorporate pixel art into my video, I want to create pixelated objects on photoshop to use in my video. To do the is, I have found a few youtube videos that will guide me through the process. Work Log:  Monday: I had trouble exporting my image as a png from photoshop because when I resized the image, it decreased the resolution of my pixel art. Tuesday: I found a fix to my problem from Tuesday and successfully exported my image. I then went on youtube to find some video game sound effects and came across this video.
