Investigation 10/17

Investigation:

This week I did an investigation on the anime Demon Slayer. It is about a boy who comes home to his whole family being eaten by demons, and only his sister survives. He goes on a mission to fight a demon who has been tormenting people and killing the demon slayers who oppose it. He also brings his sister along with him on this journey in hopes of finding a cure to revert her back into a human.

This anime is created by Koyoharu Gotouge, who is a Japanese manga artist. As of February 2021, the manga had over 150 million sold copies, making it one of the top-selling mangas of all time. He was not expecting Demon Slayer to become so popular, but once it was released, many people fell in love with it and the following Demon Slayer series was created after the manga.

I thought that this animation was going to be a perfect fit for October since it is the month of Halloween. A series about people killing demons gives off spooky vibes, and I want to incorporate things from this anime into my video.

Since Rui is one of the demons, aka enemies, in the show, I wanted to make an edit of him in after effects where his head detached from his body. I can do this by masking his head and keyframing it to move away from his neck.

Work Log:

Wednesday 10/13: I started working on my independent project and wanted to brainstorm some ideas that I could do for the month of October. The theme of Halloween came to my mind and I decided to edit and create a video that has a spooky theme to it.

Thursday 10/14: I began to search up videos online to gain some inspiration on what kind of approach I want to take towards editing the video. I came across an edit to Billie Eillish's song "Therefore I Am" and really liked the audio, so I saved it to my laptop.

Friday 10/15: I began to think about what clips I could use for my edit, and I thought that the character Rui from Demon Slayer was a perfect match for the Halloween theme, so I saved some photos of him from the manga to my laptop

The Process: I have not gotten far yet into my edit, since I only just began. But, I did import my audio and photos into adobe after effects.

Reflection: N/A
