Artist Statement

  Growing up, I have always had a creative mind and loved creating art to express my interests. When I was little, my parents sent me to an art school where I would take painting classes for five years, and a Chinese school where I would take Chinese calligraphy classes for two years. However, as the years went by, I began to grow an interest in digital art. My passion for digital art began when I discovered a sequence of videos on Instagram, where I saw people making fan edits out of anime series and k-pop idols. I was fascinated by how talented the editors were, and it inspired me to start video editing myself. Once I learned to use Adobe After Effects, I found myself enjoying editing a lot, and it easily became one of my biggest hobbies. Every day, I would come home from school and work on a video, totaling over 200 video edits to this day. Independent Blog Post 5/8

This week I did my investigation on title screens and loading screens in video games. Although I have already done this in the past, I felt like the research that I did months ago did not match the aesthetic that I was aiming to go for. Now that I have already worked on two title screens, I hope that this last one of the year will turn out the way that I want it to.  Specifically, I wanted to focus on the games that inspired my project, which are animal restaurant and animal crossing. To start off, I began by researching the title screen and loading screens that animal crossing has. As shown below, the loading screens for animal crossing are very simplistic but not too bland, which is something that I find satisfying. Next, I went on to search up images of animal crossing's title screen. I like how the title of the game has a wooden background behind it because I think it pairs perfectly with the aesthetic of the game. This week I continued working on my project. I started drawing my characters on adobe fresco by using the charcoal stroke to the outlines more textured. This way, it'll look more similar to the "Animal Restaurant" art style that I am going for. I first started drawing my background for my title screen. This is how it turned out: After finishing the background for my title screen, I began drawing the characters that I would be customizing in my game.  Once I finished, I exported them all with transparent backgrounds and moved on to making the clothes for my characters.  Once I layer these clothes on top of my characters, it will look a little something like this: I am pretty much near to starting the editing process of my video, however, I still want to draw some accessories and hats before I do so. Since I finished my Five Nights at Freddy's inspired video, I have decided to move on to a different project. However, due to the amount of time that we have left in the school year, I want to work on something small and simple. Whenever brainstorming for ideas, I thought of doing a "customize your character" where I would draw a character and make it seem like someone is changing their appearance and outfits. This is usually what people do when they start a new game that requires them to customize their personal character. An example of it would look something like this. However, I would obviously put my own twist and style on it. The art  style that I want to use will also be inspired by the mobile game called "Animal Restaurant." The appearance of the art style looks very simple and clean, which is exactly what I want to go for when drawing my character. Asynch Assignment

Currently, I wish to stick to my plan for the district art festival. However, my only concern is my table not being tall enough for my iMac to reach the top half of the display. I will probably have to make some alterations and switch to using a monitor that I have at home. The prints that I want to print are some of the projects that I worked on in my freshmen year, which include: my food modeling project and my character modeling project. I will also include my Minecraft swing that I worked on last year. District Art Festival Plan

Sketch This is a sketch of what my display will look like. I plan to build this display in school with a triangle cardboard box. How It Will Look This is a rough idea of what my display will look like after it is finished. I plan to build it in school using the triangle cardboard. I will also bring in an end table to hold my iMac. On This Display... 8 prints Roughly 3 videos (may add more) iMac to exhibit videos (bring from home) I also wanted my display to look like a bullet journal, so I went on Pinterest to gain some inspiration for how to decorate it. End of MP 3 Reflection

After going through the presentations for marking period 3, I was very impressed by everyone's work and it was interesting to see how each individual improved within the last marking period. One student that stood out to me was Tina, a 3D modeling student. She is still working on the same project that she was working on from the beginning of the school year and has come a long way since then. Sitting next to her in class, I've seen the obstacles that she's gone through when facing problems with Blender, specifically when creating hair in Blender. In the beginning, she had no idea where to start when it came to modeling hair. However, after some thorough research, she eventually found a route to the solution. Seeing that she has finally been satisfied with the hair on her model, it has inspired me to have the same kind of dedication and passion when creating my future projects. Whenever I feel stuck on a project, I will try and find a solution to it by doing more research.  ...
