Intention Definition & Exploration of Ideas: When doing blog investigations at the beginning of the year, a contemporary artist who caught my attention was Feng Mengbo, who is well known for his works of art relating to retro gaming aesthetics with personal memories from the Cultural Revolution. When I saw his artwork, I instantly got inspired by it because video games played a big part in my life, so I wanted to create something similar to Feng Mengbo's art pieces. I started on this video project with the idea of creating something related to the theme of fantasy, because I feel like there are many different ways that a person can display fantasy since it is a super diverse genre. Since all creatures share the same basic instinct for survival, I wanted to make my video related to the process of survival with the involvement of quests and missions. Some of the games that inspired this idea were Minecraft and Genshin Impact since both games have achievements and quests that p...

Investigation This week I did my investigation on text animations. To create my video game intro screen, I need to know a little more about animating text in after effects before starting it. To begin, I came across this video of someone showing a tutorial on how to make text look 8-bit. Since the video that I am creating is related to video games, this video was good to know about because I can use it to add a pixelated effect to my texts and objects. As I continued to search for text animations/effects on youtube, I came across a really cool rainbow text trail effect: Sometimes for text animations, people create text expressions on after-effects to animate their text. However, the person in the video only uses keyframes to animate the text, which is a more simple way of doing it.  Lastly, I found someone who shows a tutorial of 5 very simple text animations that I can use in my video game intro.  his video tutorial would be the one that I would most likely use for text...

Investigation: This week I did my investigation on video game start-up screens since I am creating my video related to a video game. I chose to do research on this topic because I had previously created a "load-up" screen at the beginning of my video, but I felt like it looked too plain, so I wanted to make something that wouldn't look as simple. I began by searching up some images on google for some inspiration: All of these load-up screens have a pretty retro look to them which is something that I found to be satisfying about them. To gain some more inspiration, I wanted to see a start-up screen in video form and came across this video on youtube: This short video is basically an animation of what a person may see on a screen when they first start up a video game. I found this to be fascinating and wanted to make something similar like this in my video. However, to do this, I wanted to have an idea of how someone would make this using after effects. I decided to search ...

This week I did my investigation on a video game called Genshin Impact. This game is fairly new, as it was released in September of last year, but it has gained a lot of popularity around the world since then. In the game, there are quests that players need to complete to level up their adventure rank. These quests can include fighting bosses, doing daily commissions, or even exploring the map. In the game, there are also dialogues to each quest that the players can follow along with.  Here is an example of a dialogue taken from Genshin Impact In the past, I have also played other games where dialogue appeared in it, and this inspired me to include it in my video as well.  These dialogues in video games are normally used for conversations, hints, quests, or to follow a storyline. I wanted to incorporate dialogues into the video that I'm making since my video is based on a player trying to complete a  quest. To do this, I used the rectangle masking tool to create a box. Th...
