Investigation: This week I did my investigation on a YouTuber whose channel name is called "BORE.D" He makes cooking videos, however, it is not a typical how-to cooking video. In his videos, he makes it seem as if his cooking videos are quests that he needs to complete by editing a "quest log" with objectives written over it. In this video, for example, his objective is to make a pancake. His editing style makes it look like the viewer is in a video game with the edited inventory and how he receives a notification each time he obtains an object.  After having my file got corrupted, I got really demotivated to work because I had lost two weeks of progress. However, watching his videos gave me an idea of what I want to do for my next project. I want to try and make a videogame-style cooking video by incorporating Minecraft as the game into the video. I think that I will have a lot of creative space to play around with since there are inventories and quests that playe...

Investigation: This week, I did an investigation on Studio Ghibli. It is a Japanese company founded in Tokyo, and is well known for its production of animated films. For several decades, they have created many breathtaking movies that have grabbed the attention of audiences from all over the world. They have even received an Oscar award for their movie "Spirited Away" in 2003 for the best animated feature. This picture to the left is a combination of various characters from different Studio Ghibli movies in one photo. The art style that Studio Ghibli uses is very unique and distinct from other Japanese animations, and it is super easy to recognize that it is from Studio Ghibli just by looking at it.  I really look the aesthetic appeal that Studio Ghibli gives off, and I would love to incorporate the same type of vibe into my videos, since I am also basing my videos off of Japanese animated films. Work Log: Monday: I got to start the editing process of my video in after effect...

Investigation: This week I did an investigation on the anime Demon Slayer. It is about a boy who comes home to his whole family being eaten by demons, and only his sister survives. He goes on a mission to fight a demon who has been tormenting people and killing the demon slayers who oppose it. He also brings his sister along with him on this journey in hopes of finding a cure to revert her back into a human.  This anime is created by Koyoharu Gotouge, who is a Japanese manga artist. As of February 2021, the manga had over 150 million sold copies, making it one of the top-selling mangas of all time. He was not expecting Demon Slayer to become so popular, but once it was released, many people fell in love with it and the following Demon Slayer series was created after the manga.  I thought that this animation was going to be a perfect fit for October since it is the month of Halloween. A series about people killing demons gives off spooky vibes, and I want to incorporate things ...

Text and Image

What is Text and Image?  Text and image refer to when readable text is presented in an image to sometimes achieve a certain visual style. Words and images may also correspond to match one another to convey a message, meaning, or expression behind the artwork. Contemporary artists use the concept of text and image in their artwork to better communicate with the viewer to put forth a statement that relates to the art, or anything happening in the real world.  Barbara Kruger  Barbara Kruger is an American contemporary artist known for her combinations of type and image that conveys a direct feminist cultural critique. Her works display stereotypes and the behaviors of consumerism with text layered over mass media images. Black and white images with a red accented Futura bold oblique font text was the distinct style that she was recognized for. For over forty years, Barbara Kruger has been a consistent, critical observer of the ways that images circulate through our cul...
